Boris Mijatovic
Boris Mijatović (born 1974 in Kassel, Germany) is a Member of the German Bundestag for Alliance 90/The Greens. He serves as a full member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, and as a deputy member of the Committee on European Affairs. His parliamentary work centers on defending the rulesbased international order, promoting civilian crisis prevention, and strengthening the international humanitarian system. He is particularly engaged in addressing the chronic underfunding of humanitarian aid and countering the erosion of international humanitarian law. Mijatović advocates for principled humanitarian action, stronger protection of civilians, and accountability for violations of international humanitarian. He also serves on the Supervisory Board of the Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIF). Mijatović studied political science, modern history, and economic and social geography at the University of Kassel and at the Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis, graduating in 2001. Early in his career, he worked at the International Criminal Court in The Hague and contributed to research projects on international criminal law and victim-centered justice for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Before entering the Bundestag in 2021, he gained experience as a policy advisor in the Bundestag and the European Parliament, and he was active in local politics in Kassel, serving as a city councillor and later as Green parliamentary group chair.
